The PE-900 adds quality-of-life features—like Lock & Set, user-set Boost, and Ramp delivery—so you can hold a steady working level and step up only when it matters. Tapping (vibration) and selectable tones provide non-stimulation options, while the receiver beacon and lost-transmitter beeper make field work simpler day or night.

I recently purchased the E-Collar Technologies Pro Educator 900 and overall I’m really happy with it. The first thing I liked right out of the box was that it comes with a nice carrying case, which makes it easy to keep everything organized.

The collar itself works great and has a lot of features and customization options. That said, there is definitely a bit of a learning curve with the programming if you want to fine-tune it exactly the way you like. For the average dog owner this may not be a big deal, but as a trainer who uses the same collar on multiple dogs, I wish there was an easier way to lock the stimulation level in place without having to reprogram it. I really like the Dogtra push-and-lock feature for that reason. Still, the programming isn’t overly difficult, and I’m sure once I spend more time with it I’ll get fully comfortable with all the settings.

One thing I found very helpful is that by connecting the collar to a computer, you can customize and set everything up much easier than trying to do it all through the handheld remote. It also gives you access to more options and settings, which is a nice feature once you start learning the system.

I also really like the lost transmitter feature. If you accidentally drop the remote while out on a trail or in the field, it can send out an audible alarm to help locate it, which is a smart feature that could easily save you from losing an expensive transmitter.

Another thing I like is the size. It’s smaller and more compact than some of the other e-collars I’ve used, which is a nice bonus, especially for smaller dogs or everyday use. The battery life also seems excellent so far, and it charges quickly, which is important when using it regularly.

Overall, I think it’s a solid collar with a lot of capability, especially once you learn the programming and customization features.
