DSSC VERSA™ Half Sleeve

Dog Sport Supply Co. · Available in Jute & White Synthetic · Short, Lightweight, True Half-Sleeve Coverage

The DSSC VERSA™ Half Sleeve is a shorter, lighter piece of equipment built for helpers who want a true half-sleeve profile rather than extended forearm coverage. Where our FLEX™ Half Sleeve runs longer with coverage closer to a 3/4 sleeve, the VERSA™ cuts weight and length down to the essentials, stopping short of the elbow rather than covering it. That shorter build makes it faster to move and present, without sacrificing the balanced bite core helpers rely on. Available in Jute, for a traditional bite feel that matches what a dog will encounter on a trial sleeve, or White Synthetic, engineered to feel like jute while lasting significantly longer.

  • True half-sleeve length: Shorter than our FLEX™ Half Sleeve, stopping before the elbow rather than covering it, for a lighter, more compact piece of equipment.
  • Lightweight build: Reduced length and material cut down on overall weight, letting helpers move and reposition faster during active sessions.
  • Balanced bite core: Internal construction keeps the sleeve's bite zone consistent and predictable for the dog despite the shorter, lighter profile.
  • Available in Jute: The traditional bite surface, giving the dog a feel consistent with jute trial sleeves and other jute equipment in your program.
  • Available in White Synthetic: Engineered to replicate the jute bite feel while holding up to significantly more wear, extending the working life of the sleeve.

VERSA™ vs. FLEX™ Half Sleeve — Which One Do You Need?

  • DSSC VERSA™ Half Sleeve (this item): A true half sleeve, shorter and lighter, stopping before the elbow. Built for helpers who want speed and a compact profile over extended coverage.
  • DSSC FLEX™ Half Sleeve: Runs longer, closer to a 3/4 sleeve, extending coverage over the elbow for helpers who want more arm protection and length in exchange for added weight.
  • Not sure? Go VERSA™ if lightweight and quick handling matter most. Go FLEX™ if you want longer coverage over the elbow.

Jute vs. White Synthetic — Material Guide

  • Jute: The traditional bite surface used across protection sport for decades. The same material feel a dog will encounter on a trial sleeve, making it a strong choice if you want training and trial feel to match.
  • White Synthetic: Built to replicate the jute feel while offering significantly better durability, holding up longer under repeated bites and frequent training.
  • Not sure? Go Jute if trial-accurate feel matters most. Go White Synthetic if you want jute-like bite feedback with a longer working life.

Quick tip: The lighter, shorter build makes the VERSA™ a strong pick for high-rep sessions or hot-weather training where you want to move fast and stay fresh. If your dogs consistently target higher up the arm, the longer FLEX™ may be the better fit.

Designed by Dog Sport Supply Co. for helpers who want a lighter, faster piece of equipment without giving up bite quality.

FAQs

How is the VERSA™ different from the FLEX™ Half Sleeve? Length and weight. The FLEX™ runs longer, extending coverage over the elbow, closer to a 3/4 sleeve. The VERSA™ is a true half sleeve, shorter and lighter, stopping before the elbow for a more compact, faster-handling piece of equipment.
Does the shorter length affect bite safety? No. The internal bite core is built to the same balanced standard regardless of overall sleeve length. The shorter profile reduces weight and coverage area, not bite consistency or safety.
Who is the VERSA™ best suited for? Helpers who want a lighter, quicker piece of equipment, useful for high-repetition sessions or when speed of movement matters more than extended arm coverage. If you want more coverage up the arm, the FLEX™ is the better fit.
Which material should I choose, Jute or White Synthetic? Choose Jute if you want the exact traditional bite feel a dog will encounter on a trial sleeve. Choose White Synthetic if you want that same jute-like feel but need a surface that holds up to more frequent, higher-volume training.
Is this sleeve appropriate for dogs new to protection work? It's built for helpers running active protection training exercises, so it's best suited for dogs with an established bite foundation. Dogs still building foundational grip skills should work with bite pads or wedges suited to their stage first.
