FAQs

What makes Suede Training Balls different from standard training balls? Suede balls are a bit more slick and dont absorb saliva as much, this can help dogs with a loose grip learn to hold the toy so they can't lose it. Many handlers also like it for its ease of clean up.
Can I use these for tug training? No — Training Balls are not designed for tug. The construction is optimized for fetch, reward play, and obedience work. For tug training, shop our dedicated Tugs Collection.
What size should I choose? 6" for large/high-drive breeds; 5" for medium sport dogs; 4" for smaller dogs or precise grip training. When in doubt, size up slightly.
What is the difference between suede and fabric? Suede has a softer natural outer surface that many dogs grip readily; fabric has a woven textile exterior for a slightly firmer feel. Both are equally durable.
Are these safe to leave with my dog unsupervised? We recommend supervised use for all toys. Inspect before each session and retire the ball if the outer layer shows significant wear or damage.
Safety Notes
Inspect the ball before each training session for signs of wear or damage.
Discontinue use if the stuffing becomes exposed.
Not suitable for tug — prolonged pulling stress can damage the seams.
Always supervise your dog during play.
Cleaning & Care
Hand wash with mild soap and warm water; air dry completely before storing.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry — heat can compromise the DURACOT™ fabric layers.
Store in a dry location out of direct sunlight when not in use.
